I found another riveting documentary on this darkness entitled, "Protesting the Dixie Chicks" in which the director follows the 2003 Dixie Chicks tour in the US capturing patriotism at it's worst -- it's a must see. ]]> By: michael http://sideways8.wordpress.com/2007/07/21/the-dixie-chicks-documentary-is-good/#comment-20664 michael Sat, 21 Jul 2007 23:25:26 +0000 http://sideways8.wordpress.com/2007/07/21/the-dixie-chicks-documentary-is-good/#comment-20664 WELCOME TO THE CLUB! the devoted Chick fans have had to put it with this right wing hate for years. at the CMT website there are message boards for various artists. right after Natalie's comment the Dixie Chicks board was filled with some of the most hate filled comments i have ever seen. some examples, the Chicks should be tried for treason and shot, they should be strapped to a bomb and dropped on Iraq, they should have their citizenship revoked and kicked out of the U.S. there were many more ugly comments. any fan ( myself included ) who tried to defend the Chicks right to free speech got the same treatment. the right wing believes in free speech, as long as you share their views. if you do not, there will be hell to pay. what amazed me was many of those neocons called themselves " true americans ". the hate filled comments about the Chicks continue to this day. the Chicks board lit up again after the Chicks took home 5 grammys. the neocons will not tolerate any criticism of bush, and the Chicks grammy wins was a big sore point with the pro bush crowd. and i enjoyed their torment!
