A city speaks to you mostly by accident—in things you see through windows, in conversations you overhear. It’s not something you have to seek out, but something you can’t turn off.
I just moved to a new city and i couldn’t agree more with this statement. Over the past 10 years, I’ve lived in [...]

I’m thinking of a move to the West coast because DC is a just a bit too dangerous. There was an earthquake today at 1:30pm in NoVa that measured 1.8 on the ritcher scale. Article is here. Seriously i’ve got to get to LA to avoid these natural disasters

I just read this article which mentions that a new DMV program that would install SmarTrip chips into every new D.C. driver’s license and identification card beginning in October, 2008. This is sweet. Another card i won’t need to carry around in my wallet and hopefully it’ll get more people riding the [...]

Went to watch the queen’s last night. I’ve always heard about it but never made the trip. It’s quite a scene. Check out the good footage i got:

Had a bunch of teams attend, such as:
Team Mckendr: Mairead brought two 6′7″ dudes who were truly able to pimp out their hiding spots
Team Davidson: Bryan Hozack [...]

Finally, a truly modern sculptor.
Ron Mueck is a London-based photo-realist artist. Born in Australia to parents who were toy makers, he labored on children’s television shows for 15 years (like Fraggle Rock) before working in special effects for such films as Labyrinth, a 1986 fantasy epic starring David Bowie.
Eventually Mueck concluded that photography destroys [...]

I went to a reading tonight of Chuck Klosterman at Olsson’s in DC. As expected, he was articulate and very funny. He read a passage from his new book, Chuck Klosterman IV, and he describes how the book came to be. When he was on a book tour for Killing Yourself to Live (his 3rd [...]

We had another great beer scavenger hunt on Saturday. Over 40 people from 6 states participated in the 12th hunt since the creation of the beer scavenger hunt. The highlight was watching Matt L. eat Mexican straight off the plate and the lowest point was losing my phone and keys (phone was returned [...]

It’s a pretty good year of movies and the five films up for Academy Award for Best Picture are all worth seeing. They are Babel, Little Miss Sunshine, The Departed, The Queen, and Letters of Iwo Jima.
If you have missed some or all of them, you’re in luck because AMC theaters is doing a 1-time [...]
